The only problem with Ohio summer festivals is that there are too many to choose from! So, to help out, we’ve narrowed down the list for you—make sure you mark these dates on your calendar.
Festival of the Bells
June 30th – July 2nd – Hillsboro
If you are searching for a wholesome festival for Fourth of July weekend, the Festival of the Bells is it. Here you get the opportunity to hear awesome Christian artists like Jana Kramer in the beautiful and quaint town of Hillsboro
Kickin’ Chicken Wing Fest
July 9th – Kettering
Gorge yourself on chicken wings while taking in some great rock’n’roll–that’s what this festival in Kettering is all about. Various eateries from around town set up shop to offer their own take on the chicken wing.
Ohio Valley Music Festival
August 20th – Marietta
If you are a fan of country music, you will love this festival. Catch iconic artists like Clint Black and John Michael Montgomery as well as hot newcomers like High Valley. It’s for a good cause, too—proceeds from beer sales go to the American Legion of Veterans.
There’s no better way to celebrate summer in Ohio than taking in a festival. Just remember to bring your sweet tooth and your sunscreen!
This Subaru record has been a long time (and work) coming. The modified WRX STI used has about 600 horsepower, weighs in at 2,590 pounds and has a top speed of 180 mph. While these stats in themselves are pretty amazing, the final lap time is even better: 17:25!
This time blew the previous record out of the water–the Subaru blew through the course just over 2 minutes faster! It averaged at 128 mph on the track, even through the small towns and narrow roads that it takes to complete one lap.
You can watch the video here of driver Mark Higgins beating the record. It’s a sight to behold, for sure!
In a world with many crazy racing stunts, this is one of the crazier tracks! For more insane driving, check out the 24 Hours of Le Mans. One 24-hour race tests the ability of both the drivers and the cars! It’s one leg of the Triple Crown of Motorsport, the others being the Indianapolis 500 and the Monaco Grand Prix.
No matter the sport, Cincinnati likely has a team! From baseball to football to soccer: you name it, Cincinnati sports has it. See which teams we love and think that you should, too!
If you watch the NFL, you’re probably aware of the Bengals. Their 2015 season brought them the AFC North title and one step away from the big game. They’re definitely a team to watch this year as they plan for another great season.
Another well-known Cincinnati sports team is the Cincinnati Reds. While they haven’t won a World Series title since 1990, fans are always cheering on the team for a win! We love them just the same, year after year.
FC Cincinnati is a new team this season, but they’ve had a great start so far! They play in the University of Cincinnati’s Nippert Stadium and have filled it for a few games. That’s a pretty impressive inaugural season!
If you’re looking for something to watch or somewhere to go, there are always sporting events going on in Cincinnati! There are also college teams that have spectacular players. Of course, there are plenty other teams in the area, so look around for your favorite sport – I’m sure you can find it!
Lingering smells can bother everyone, including the driver themselves. Not only can they be bothersome, unwanted smells can also lowered your car’s resale value. Luckily for you, getting rid of unwanted smells is easy if you have some common household items. Here’s how to remove smells from a car from us here at Joseph Auto!
Newspaper – As it turns out, not all newspapers are going digital. Physical newspapers may seem outdated, but they happen to be very good as absorbing and removing unwanted smells. Just throw a few crumpled pages into your car, preferably near the source of the smell, and the smell will be gone in a few hours.
Cat Litter – If you have a feline companion, odds are you already have cat litter lying around the house. Designed to remove odors, a bowl of cat litter will leave your car virtually odorless relatively quickly.
Coffee Grounds – Part of a driver’s morning routine, a cup of coffee can go a long way. Fresh coffee grounds can be just as useful for your car as coffee is for you. Placing a bowl of your favorite coffee grounds for the day will result in a fresh mocha scent before you know it!
The 2016 Hyundai Veloster and 2016 Hyundai Elantra have earned Vincentric’s Best Value in America Award, marking the fourth and second consecutive year the two cars receive the honor, respectively.
Vincentric is an automotive research firm that specializes in determining the cost of owning a car. Every year, it measures the cost of ownership using eight different key factors, including financing, fuel, insurance, depreciation, opportunity cost, fees and taxes, and repairs. It measures the vehicles that had lower-than-expected ownership costs and ranks them in the appropriate segment.
The 2016 Hyundai Veloster offered the “Best Value in America” in the sports car segment and the 2016 Hyundai Elantra in the compact hatchback segment. This gives you double the opportunities to purchase a great vehicle, whichever type of car you prefer!
“The Veloster has a strong history of performing well in our awards analysis, delivering a low cost-of-ownership package that helps provide high value to consumers,” said David Wurster, president of Vincentric. “The Elantra similarly delivers class-leading value, is fuel efficient and inexpensive to maintain, offering drivers exceptional value for the money.”
Get the most bang for your buck with the Hyundai Veloster and Elantra cars at Joseph Auto! We are proud to sell both vehicles, both new and used!
Prodrive and Subaru have teamed up once again, to set a new Isle of Man record on the TT Course. Prodrive is famous for building Subaru rally cars from 1990 to 2008, so there’s a lot of buzz surrounding this latest collaboration. In the last 8 years there have been many technological advancements, so this collaboration should be very exciting to all racing fans.
The engineering group is tuning a Subaru WRX STI to set a new record attempt before the 2016 Isle of Man TT kicks off on May 28th. The cabin has been stripped out of all unnecessary equipment, even including door panels and carpet. It also boasts a full body kit complete with flared fenders and a large wing at the rear.
Mark Higgins, the three-time British Rally Champion who has already broken the Isle of Man record several times in the past—and who holds the current record with a bone stock 2015 WRX STI—will be at the wheel of the Prodrive-tuned car. So far, his best time is 19 minutes and 15 seconds. That’s pretty impressive for a 37-mile circuit – that’s an average speed of just over 115 mph! At Joseph Auto, we’re hoping he can do it under 19 minutes!
Spring has finally touched down across the country (we hope we didn’t just jinx ourselves into a last-minute blizzard), and it’s safe to say that we’re all feeling a little exhausted with the boredom of wintertime. If that sounds like you, have no fear! We have some of our favorite midwestern spring getaways on standby for you to help get you out of winter’s clutches and look ahead to sweet summertime.
New Harmony, Indiana is a town just as quaint as it sounds. Peaceful, laid-back, and warm, New Harmony is the perfect place for a couple’s retreat or a family weekend, with delightful gardens and parks, impressive art galleries and exhibits, extensive shopping centers, and soothing outdoor activities.
Mackinac Island in Michigan is famous for its June Lilac Festival, but it’s beautiful all season long, making it one of our favorite of our favorite spring midwestern getaways. With stunning views of Lake Michigan and a sleepy-feeling but playful town, you’ll never be bored at Mackinac.
Ohio is never on the top of any tourist’s list, but we think that’s a shame, especially in the spring. It’s worth a visit to take you and a loved one to a nice bed and breakfast and check out Ohio’s Amish County. Slow down, take a breather, and embrace the fact that winter’s over.
The new, high-tech Audi A4 is probably the coolest thing to roll out of Audi in years (maybe ever?) if you’re an absolute, admitted technophile. With its rich spread of all the latest gadgetry and innovations, the A4 feels futuristic without feeling complicated, just like good advanced technology should. It’s hard to pinpoint our favorite features in the high-tech Audi A4, but we’ll give it a shot:
If they revamped the Jetsons today, the interior of that futuristic family’s vehicle would probably have something a lot like the A4’s 1440×540, 60fps, crystal-clear Virtual Cockpit display. With intuitive functionality and beautiful picture, all it’s really missing is Netflix access.
The Audi A4’s driver assist technologies are effortless, flawless, seamless – all those “lesses” except “less” itself. Features like Adaptive Cruise Control and Lane Assist will make you wonder how you ever survived on the road without these simple yet essential additions.
The integrated infotainment elements are out-of-this-world. Options like Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, navigation by Waze, and onboard 4G LTE connectivity, are just a few reasons why the A4 is redefining convenience.
High-tech and highly desirable, the Audi A4 has got all the brains (and the beauty) to keep us coming back for more
The GMC Sierra 1500 has been named the 2016 Texas Truck Showdown Towing Champion in a head-to-head capability contest that involved editors from respected automotive resources like Cars.com, PickupTrucks.com, and MrTruck.com.
The truck they tested was the Sierra 1500 SLT, equipped with the available 6.2-liter V8 engine, the most powerful gas-powered engine in the segment. Mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission, it offers a max trailer rating of 12,000 pounds.
It was pitted against the Ford F-150 Lariat, Chevrolet Silverado 1500 LTZ, Ram 1500 Laramie Longhorn, and Toyota Tundra 1794 Edition. Despite having the most powerful engine in the test with 420 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque, the Sierra 1500 SLT also ranked first in fuel economy with a trailer.
Needless to say, there’s a reason customers in the market for a new truck tend to settle on the Sierra 1500 at Joseph Auto.
“This is a mild-mannered pickup that is ready to don its cape and do some heavy lifting, saving the day from a long list of work chores,” said Mark Williams, PickupTrucks.com editor. “The engine and transmission are synced up like a smooth-flying jet rocket.”
Given the huge cost of making a Super Bowl ad and the huge audience that watches it, it’s no wonder companies put so much effort into making them as good as possible. And this year, there was a clear winner as to which company had the best ads of them all: Hyundai.
Don’t just take our word for it at Joseph Auto: the Korean automaker was the first-ever car company to capture the top spot on USA Today’s Super Bowl Ad Meter, which has been used since 1989 to measure the success of Big Game ads.
Hyundai was ranked first with the ultra-popular “First Date” ad, featuring Kevin Hart as an overprotective father who uses his Hyundai Genesis’ tracking system to keep his daughter’s date in line. Two other Hyundai ads were featured in the top six, including one featuring Ryan Reynolds and another featuring two bears. Check them all out below!
