The Best Ohio Summer Festivals of 2016

Ohio summer festivals

The only problem with Ohio summer festivals is that there are too many to choose from! So, to help out, we’ve narrowed down the list for you—make sure you mark these dates on your calendar.

Festival of the Bells

June 30th – July 2nd – Hillsboro

If you are searching for a wholesome festival for Fourth of July weekend, the Festival of the Bells is it. Here you get the opportunity to hear awesome Christian artists like Jana Kramer in the beautiful and quaint town of Hillsboro

Kickin’ Chicken Wing Fest

July 9th – Kettering

Gorge yourself on chicken wings while taking in some great rock’n’roll–that’s what this festival in Kettering is all about. Various eateries from around town set up shop to offer their own take on the chicken wing.

Ohio Valley Music Festival

August 20th – Marietta

If you are a fan of country music, you will love this festival. Catch iconic artists like Clint Black and John Michael Montgomery as well as hot newcomers like High Valley. It’s for a good cause, too—proceeds from beer sales go to the American Legion of Veterans.

There’s no better way to celebrate summer in Ohio than taking in a festival. Just remember to bring your sweet tooth and your sunscreen!

New Subaru Record: Isle of Man TT Lap Time

If you’ve never seen a clip of someone driving the Isle of Man TT course, you will be amazed. The complexity, length and narrowness of the track is astounding. And guess what–the Subaru WRX STI just broke the lap record time.

2016 Subaru WRX - Subaru record Isle of Man TT lap

This Subaru record has been a long time (and work) coming. The modified WRX STI used has about 600 horsepower, weighs in at 2,590 pounds and has a top speed of 180 mph. While these stats in themselves are pretty amazing, the final lap time is even better: 17:25!

This time blew the previous record out of the water–the Subaru blew through the course just over 2 minutes faster! It averaged at 128 mph on the track, even through the small towns and narrow roads that it takes to complete one lap.

You can watch the video here of driver Mark Higgins beating the record. It’s a sight to behold, for sure!

In a world with many crazy racing stunts, this is one of the crazier tracks! For more insane driving, check out the 24 Hours of Le Mans. One 24-hour race tests the ability of both the drivers and the cars! It’s one leg of the Triple Crown of Motorsport, the others being the Indianapolis 500 and the Monaco Grand Prix.
