GM Trucks Top’s Midsize Pickup Challenge

The results of’s Midsize Pickup Challenge are in and they bode well for the trucks we sell at dealerships in the Joseph Auto Group.

Four pickups were evaluated in 21 tests over the course of six days, including the 2015 GMC Canyon, 2015 Chevrolet Colorado Z71, 2015 Nissan Frontier PRO-4X, and 2015 Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro.

They were tested for performance, seating and ergonomics, tech and entertainment, ride quality, visibility, value, off-road capability, braking and acceleration, fuel economy, and comfort.

According to, the best truck was the GMC Canyon, which was also named Autoweek’s Best of the Best Truck for 2015.

Pickup Truck Editor Mark Williams explained that the Canyon “offered a capable and luxurious ride and feel that clearly separated the GMC from the rest of the pack.”

The Chevrolet Colorado Z71 wasn’t far behind, however, thanks to its smooth transmission and confidence when hauling heavy loads.

“What impressed us most with both of the GM trucks is how much they can carry, and how comfortable and confident they are doing it,” said Williams. “During brake testing and when carrying a max payload during our fuel-economy runs, brake control and chassis dynamics were smooth and predictable, comforting even.”
