Audi vehicles are the perfect balance of performance and premium quality. All of their success depends largely on what the automaker puts under its models’ hoods – no sacrifice of power. A wise company can change their product in anticipation where demand is headed, as market trends and consumer interest continue to change. We know that Audi is a smart company, and that is their plan.
That’s why Audi has announced it is retiring its V8 engines in the coming years. They’re opting instead for battery-powered electric vehicles. After the most recent V8 engine—a turbocharged diesel with massive torque—is released with the new Audi SQ7, no more V8s will be added to the brand’s lineup.
When will this start to affect the Audi lineup?
In fact, Audi is changing almost a third of their lineup, anticipated, to be electric or hybrid by 2025. This means that Audi is phasing out gas-guzzling blocks like the V8s for more eco-friendly and fuel efficient engines. Audi is one of the many automakers making this change to stick with changing trends.
While plans to retire Audi V8 engines may disappoint some, we at Joseph Auto know that Audi won’t let its fans down. Even in the form of electric batteries, Audi’s performance excellence will still be apparent.
The new, high-tech Audi A4 is probably the coolest thing to roll out of Audi in years (maybe ever?) if you’re an absolute, admitted technophile. With its rich spread of all the latest gadgetry and innovations, the A4 feels futuristic without feeling complicated, just like good advanced technology should. It’s hard to pinpoint our favorite features in the high-tech Audi A4, but we’ll give it a shot:
- If they revamped the Jetsons today, the interior of that futuristic family’s vehicle would probably have something a lot like the A4’s 1440×540, 60fps, crystal-clear Virtual Cockpit display. With intuitive functionality and beautiful picture, all it’s really missing is Netflix access.
- The Audi A4’s driver assist technologies are effortless, flawless, seamless – all those “lesses” except “less” itself. Features like Adaptive Cruise Control and Lane Assist will make you wonder how you ever survived on the road without these simple yet essential additions.
- The integrated infotainment elements are out-of-this-world. Options like Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, navigation by Waze, and onboard 4G LTE connectivity, are just a few reasons why the A4 is redefining convenience.
High-tech and highly desirable, the Audi A4 has got all the brains (and the beauty) to keep us coming back for more

Earlier this year Audi sent their self-driving Audi A7 from Silicon Valley to Vegas for the 2015 Consumer Electronics Show. Now, Delphi Automotive is ready to make that 560 mile autonomous trip look like child’s play. The automotive parts supplier is ready to send a special Audi SQ5 SUV from San Francisco to New York City.
Have no fear; the Audi self-driving car won’t be unoccupied. Six engineers will be riding along to make sure nothing goes wrong. The autonomous vehicle is equipped with four short range radars, three vision-based cameras, and six lidars in addition to the onboard computer system.
With that tech, the vehicle can do everything from merging onto the freeway to parking itself. Delphi is making the trip to gather data and prove its technology is ready for the marketplace. In all the trip will covers around 3,500 miles. You can keep track of the drive via Twitter using the hashtag #DelphiDrive.
“Delphi had great success testing its car in California and on the streets of Las Vegas,” said Jeff Owens, Chief Technology Officer at Delphi. “Now it’s time to put our vehicle to the ultimate test by broadening the range of driving conditions. This drive will help us collect invaluable data in our quest to deliver the best automotive grade technologies on the market.”
Audi has revealed its new Q7 model ahead of the 2015 North American International Auto Show in Detroit, where many other vehicles will debut. This plug-in hybrid is 700 pounds lighter than the previous model, due to the Q7’s carbon fiber components.
The new Audio Q7 SUV is the first car to use Volkswagen Group’s new MLB platform, probably paving the way for other automakers to do so. Much of the construction of the Q7 consists of aluminum, including the doors, front fender, and hood.
Paradoxically, although the new Q7 is smaller overall, it actually offers more interior room for the driver and passengers, with more room under its hood. Just because the Audi Q7 is losing 700 pounds doesn’t mean it won’t be able to fit a small family.
Pricing for the vehicle still has yet to be released, but we will likely learn those numbers as we approach the release date for the Q7, which is scheduled for sometime next year.
Until then, head on down to Joseph Auto to check out our available Audi models, as well as models from many other makes.
